CHOPE Shares the michelin limelight
2016 has certainly created history for Singapore’s food industry. The world renowned Michelin awards has officially been rated in the red dot city. With that being said, Singapore clinched the honour of being the first ever Southeast Asian country and tops off as the 4th Asian country alongside Japan, Hong Kong and Macau to have a guide of our own.
Announced a week before the official launch of the Michelin Guide Singapore, 34 food eateries comprising of 17 food centres, 14 restaurants and 3 other establishments have also been awarded the Bib Gourmand Award. These awards are specifically given to food places offering exceptionally scrumptious meals at an affordable price.
As the official reservations system provider for the Michelin Singapore, Chope shares the limelight. Aftermath of the inaugural award ceremony where top restaurants and chefs were presented with either one, two or three stars respectively, a private after-party was held at Tanjong Beach Club organised by the company.
With the aim for the chefs and restaurants to “let their hair down and celebrate their achievement with the rest of their teams, who were equally instrumental in ensuring the restaurants' success”, mentioned Dinesh Balasingam, General Manager of Chope Singapore.
A definite night of celebrations and achievements were felt throughout the night. “It’s simply a wonderful feeling!” exclaimed Dinesh. Seeing chefs and affiliates coming together congratulating and sharing success tips with one another, Louiza Wong, assistant overall party planner and graphics designer for Chope Singapore was utterly relieved “The whole party was planned all within a month, the biggest challenge would be the lack of time.”
Over 250 guests inclusive of restaurant chefs, managers, affiliates as well as Robert Parker; Michelin Guide advocate himself was present at the event till the wee hours. “The invites were made in-house which makes the process really tedious”, Louiza reiterated.
A final message Dinesh gives to all Michelin-star winners was in hope for them, “To continue challenging themselves and raising the bar for restaurants in Singapore, and to be proud ambassadors of our little red dot.
